I had never read anything by Jenny Han until this book. I can safely say that I love Jenny Han now, that I read this book. As soon as I read this book I knew that I had to finish reading the whole series ASAP. Yes, I love it that much. Its really rare for me to find books that I want need to finish the whole series. I usually just get bored of the characters or the plot. Just something makes me loose interest, but not this book.

The book starts of with Belly traveling to Cousins Beach with her mother and brother for the season. Cousins is basically where Belly spent every summer for as long as she could remember. Every year Belly looks forward to the summer that she will spend at the beach house with her mom, brother, Susannah, Jeremiah, and Conrad. But this summer is different. This summer is the year that the boys, Conrad and Jeremiah, don’t see Belly as a little girl that’s always tagging along and trying to be ‘one of the guys’, so to speak. This year is the year Belly turned pretty.

Conrad, Conrad, Conrad. I loved everything about him. I really like characters like him. What can I say? I’m weird. In my head he seemed like that stereotypical ’I don’t care’ kind of guy, if you know what I mean. He’s kind of moody and dark. He’s that guy that I think every girl falls for at least once in their life. And obviously for Belly, that had been true. Now, Jeremiah, on the other hand was that guy that you want to be around. He’s funny and sweet and just an all around nice guy.

The plot was, well, a bit obvious. It didn’t take a while to really get what was going on. I hate it when books seem to drag on and on and on and on about pointless things. Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down. Jenny Han is an amazing author. If you haven’t checked out any of her books. I would definitely recommend it.

When I found this book at my local library, I thought this was going to be one of those books about a boy struggling with his religion and sexuality. I was right about that part but it wasn't the main point, which I thought was a little weird. The main focus was a boy named Alex.

The book starts off with Alex sitting at a gas station, seeing something that he shouldn’t have seen. (This part is very had to talk about with out giving anything away!) That then leads to Alex not wanting to go to church, because he will see the people that he saw at the gas station. So, Alex starts to wonder about why God would let something like this happen. Therefore loosing faith in his religion. He stops going to church with his family every Sunday, which causes a huge problem between Alex and his father.

So, you already know that someone in the book is struggling with his or her sexuality. You would think it would be the main character. Its not. That’s one thing that really threw me for a loop. Without saying what happens with that whole thing. Alex struggles more with his religion after finding out that someone, that he is close to, is not straight.

The whole plot of the book just makes me not like Alex. He whines about everything. He’s so worried about what other people are thinking and he’s very just angst-y. For me, he just wasn’t a very likeable person/character.

It was an okay read, but not something I would read again. Maybe if you were someone who had gone though something similar to Alex you might like it, but it’s a tough call. I think its just one of those books that you have to check out for your self.

I saw this book at my local library and I instantly fell in love with the cover, and decided that I needed to pick up this book. So, I added the book to the growing pile in my arms and when about looking around the library.

When I got home I didn’t read this one first for some strange reason, but after reading this I wish that I did read this one as soon as I got home. This book was one of those books that you can literally read in a day.

There were very few things that I disliked about this book. One, for me, was that it took awhile to really understand what was going on but once I understood what was going on I liked the book a whole lot more. Another thing was the way the charactors handled their problems. Cade, running away every time someone asked him what was wrong. And Amber, just whining about how it wasn’t fair.

But other than those 3 things, I really liked this book. It was the perfect amount of fluffy goodness and teenage angst. I cant help but love verse novels like these, they always make for good reads on a rain.

My First Post.

So, I'm guessing this is my first post here on my lovely book blog.

I've never been god at keeping journals; let alone blogs. I've always stuck with them for a month or so,then just gave up.

I just recently found the whole book blogging community on youtube and here on blogger. And I've gotten really into reading and watching everyones reviews, plus I've found tonnnnnssss of books that I'd never heard of that I've fallen in love with all thanks to this lovely book community. I feel like the whole community makes me want to read more than I did before.
